State Sen. Don Humason Running For Westfield Mayor

Twitter

A veteran state legislator from western Massachusetts has announced plans to run for mayor in the city of Westfield.

State Senator Don Humason said friends and family members urged him to think about running after Westfield Mayor Brian Sullivan announced in January that he would not seek another term.

"And I thought about if for a while and that is what I decided to do; throw my hat in the ring," said Humason.

Humason, a Republican, was elected to the senate in 2013 in a district made up of ten cities and towns including Holyoke, Easthampton, and part of Chicopee.   Before that he was a state representative from Westfield for a decade.

A native of Westfield, Humason said his priorities are to grow the city’s tax base and repair or replace old infrastructure.
