A retired Massachusetts corrections officer is exploring a run for Congress in the district represented by 8-term Democrat Jim McGovern of Worcester.
Dan Dubrule of Leominster announced the formation Tuesday of an exploratory campaign committee in the Massachusetts 2nd Congressional district. He acknowledged the long odds of running as a Republican in a state that has not elected a Republican to a U.S. House Seat since 1994.
Dubrule said he sees an opportunity because approval ratings for Congress are down in single digits. Dubrule ran unsuccessfully in 2010 for a seat the Massachusetts State Senate.
