The mayor of one of the largest villages in the Adirondacks says he will retire at the end of his term.

Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau announced Thursday that he will retire at the end of his term on March 31, 2022 after leading the village for 12 years.

In a statement, Rabideau expressed thanks to all the village personnel he has worked with, highlighting his interactions with the village manager and village clerk.

He listed accomplishments that include a lower tax rate over his term, obtaining a $10 million Downtown Revitalization grant and nearly $20 million in other state and federal grants and economic development that has led to village growth and enhanced tourism.

Rabideau was previously mayor of Plattsburgh beginning in 1989, serving five two-year terms.
