A New York grand jury is expected to hear evidence in a fatal car crash involving a state trooper that killed a 33-year-old upstate woman.

Authorities said Trooper Joshua Jenkins was driving his police SUV south on Telegraph Road in the Clinton County town of AuSable in October 2014.

Officials said Jenkins failed to yield at a stop sign and hit a Ford Focus sedan driven by Jennifer Chauvin of the town of Peru. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two children suffered minor injuries.

The Washington County District Attorney's office was assigned to the case in February.

The Press-Republican of Plattsburgh reports that Washington County District Attorney Tony Jordan says a Clinton County grand jury will hear the case. A court date hasn't been confirmed.
