Two years after a young girl was killed on Lake George, officials have again taken steps to prevent the annual party that preceded the fatal boat crash from happening.

Executive Director Dave Wick says the Lake George Park Commission will work with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and other agencies to increase patrols on the lake Monday.

“We had the closure of Log Bay and Shelving Rock Bay last year, just to make sure that people understood that we weren’t going to tolerate the Log Bay Day endeavor anymore. And we wanted to make sure for the second year after the fact that that wasn’t going to happen again,” said Wick.

Authorities will also be monitoring social media.

The raucous Log Bay Day party was traditionally held on the last Monday in July.

Wick asked boaters headed to the lake to make sure they have a designated driver.
