NY Attorney General Schneiderman: Retail Theft Ring Uncovered

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman Wednesday announced the uncovering of a massive crime ring that targeted retail stores. At a press conference in Manhattan, he dubbed the nearly year-long investigation “Operation Sticky Fingers.”

Today we’re announcing a 41-count indictment against 12 people on charges including enterprise corruption, money laundering, criminal possession of stolen property, and conspiracy. Each of the defendants faces up to eight and a third to 25 years behind bars. And according to court filings, this major retail theft operation targeted stores in 28 states, making off with millions of dollars of merchandise stuffed under their clothes,” said Schneiderman.

Schneiderman alleged the ring was composed of four “theft crews” operating military-style.
