An undetermined amount of oil has spilled at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in suburban New York.

Officials at the plant say they notified New York state environmental officials after Friday morning's oil discharge.

Jerry Nappi, a spokesman for Indian Point owner Entergy, says plant officials observed an oil sheen in a discharge canal that empties into the Hudson River.

He says the oil is not radioactive and none of it got into the Hudson. He says a boom is in place to contain the oil while it is being cleaned up.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo toured the plant Friday evening and said there is no reason for neighbors to be concerned about the spill.

But Cuomo, a Democrat, said "constant vigilance" is required when it comes to Indian Point.
