New York To Open Election Hotline For Primary Day

The New York attorney general's office plans to operate a complaint hotline to address voter problems in Tuesday's congressional primaries.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, whose office received hundreds of voter complaints in the state's presidential primary, says they are "committed to ensuring that all eligible voters have the ability to cast an effective ballot."

He says voters having issues Tuesday should call the office's hotline at 800-771-7755 or email civil.rights@ag.ny.gov any time between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Staff and attorneys in the office's Civil Rights Bureau will be handling complaints.

Schneiderman says they will follow up on alleged improprieties.

In New York City and Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Orange and Putnam counties, polls are open starting at 6 a.m.

In other counties with races, polls open at noon.
