Service Planned For Saratoga Springs Native Missing In Alaska

A service is being held this weekend for an upstate New York native who is presumed to have died while skiing in Alaska.

Authorities say 33-year-old Dr. Liam Walsh of Wasilla, Alaska, failed to return from an outing in Hatcher Pass in the Talkeetna Mountains on Nov. 22. He's believed to have been killed in an avalanche. Searches were conducted but no sign of him was found.

Walsh was from Wilton and graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and the University at Albany. An avid outdoorsman, he moved to Alaska last year and was working as an anesthesiologist at the hospital in Wasilla.

His family tells the Times Union of Albany (http://bit.ly/1QsEsrR ) that a service for Walsh will be held Sunday at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga.
