Nearly 300 French and Indian War re-enactors are expected to participate in weekend battle re-enactments being staged along the shores of Lake George in the southern Adirondacks.
British, French and American Indian military re-enactors will set up camp on the grounds of Lake George Battlefield Park, on the lake's southern end. The camps are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Re-enactments of the Battle of Lake George will be held at 1 p.m. each day in the state-owned park, located where Colonial Americans from New England and New York and their Mohawk allies defeated a force of French, Indian and Canadians on Sept. 8, 1755.
Nearby Fort William Henry, built on the site of the original British fortification, is open through the weekend.
