New Citizens On Independence Day
Several dozen people will be sworn in as new citizens of the United States during naturalization ceremonies being held on the Fourth of July at three upstate New York locations.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services says more than 70 people will take the Oath of Allegiance on Saturday at the Saratoga National Historical Park in Saratoga County, the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany and the Genesee County Village and Museum in Mumford, near Rochester.
The ceremony at the historical park, scene of the Revolutionary War's Battles of Saratoga, will include fife and drum music, and a musket and cannon salute.
The people gaining U.S. citizenship come from Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic, India, Mexico, China and nearly a dozen other nations.
