The search for escaped prisoners Richard Matt and David Sweat continued Sunday in an area near the Clinton Correctional facility.
The two convicts got out of the maximum security prison in northern New York more than a week ago. Search teams continued to scour an area between Plattsburgh and Dannemora on Sunday, shifting their focus to the east.
As the search for the convicted murderers continue local residents have mixed reactions. Some left the area for the weekend. Others near the search area could be seen mowing their lawns, jogging and walking their dogs.
Joyce Mitchell, the woman charged with aiding Matt’s and Sweat’s escape, is expected in court early Monday morning.
