Anne Palamountain, Former First Lady Of Skidmore College, Dies At 91

Anne Tonneson Palamountain, the former “First Lady” of Skidmore College, has died at age 91.

Palamountain was the wife of college president Joseph Palamountain Jr., who served from 1965 to 1987.

A visible face in Saratoga Springs, she was active in Skidmore affairs for 50 years, through this winter. She died Saturday from complications from pneumonia at Saratoga Hospital.

In a note, Skidmore College president Philip Glotzbach wrote “Anne will be greatly missed” and that the college will carry on the work of the Palamountain Scholarship Fund.

A memorial service has been scheduled on May 13th.
