Shooting Inside Capital Region Nightclub Leaves Man Injured

wikipedia.org

Police say a man was shot inside a Capital Region nightclub, the same location where a brawl between customers and police officers took place last year.

WRGB-TV reports the incident happened early Sunday morning inside Kokopelli’s, a night club on 4th Street in Troy.

No arrests have been made, but investigators are working to obtain a search warrant for the club and a nearby car.

Earlier this month, a note taped to the door of the club stated that it would be closing as a direct result of the January 2014 incident, where the clash left eight officers injured.

The event last year caused uproar in the community. The owners of the club have been critical of the city’s police department. Police have defended their actions. The city council at the time called for an independent investigation.
