Astorino: History Shows I Can Win

Office of the Westchester County Executive

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has more than $30 million in his campaign fund, and a recent poll shows him with a 30-point-lead over his likely Republican opponent, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, but the Republican says if the past is any indication, he can win the gubernatorial race this year. On WAMC’s Capitol Connection program this week, Astorino says he faced similar long odds when he won the county executive race in the heavily Democratic Westchester County.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
