Last night in Orlando, Paul Pierce poured in 24 points and dished out 10 assists, as Boston roared back from a 27 point deficit to stun the Magic 91-83. The Celtics have won three straight.
In the only other NBA game last night, the Clippers cruised past Memphis 98-91.
To Top 25 college hoops, North Carolina routed NC State 74-55, Florida rallied to beat Mississippi 64-60, Wisconsin upset Indiana 57-50, Virginia hammered Boston College 66-49, and St. Mary's dumped Loyola Marymount 71-64.
On the Women's side, Virginia Tech upset Maryland 75-69, Delaware dumped Hofstra 84-66, and Tennessee blew out Alabama 86-56.
In baseball news, reliever Brad Lidge and Washington have agreed to a one-year deal, and the Red Sox have inked outfielder Cody Ross to a one-year deal worth $3 million.
At the Australian Open, Andy Murray leads defending champ Novak Djokovic two sets to one, and they are currently on-serve in the fourth set, as the two compete for a right to face Rafael Nadal in Sunday's tournament finale. Nadal eliminated Roger Federer yesterday in four sets.
In Women's action, Maria Sharapova is set to take on Victoria Azarenka in the Women's finale tomorrow night.
In NFL news, the Buccaneers have hired Greg Schiano as their new head coach. Schiano was at Rutgers for the past 11 seasons, transforming the program from a college football laughingstock into an annual competitor, finishing with winning records six of the last seven years.
And another prognosticator has stepped into the mix as we ready for Super Bowl 46 between the Giants and Patriots. Princess the camel, the star attraction at New Jersey's Popcorn Park Zoo, has correctly picked the winner of five of the last six Super Bowls. Her choice? The New York Giants.
