Albany, NY – Environmental Advocates of NY developed the 2012 Green Playbook outlining 10 policy memos with input from 15 environmental and conservation groups across New York. Their top policy is protecting NY from the dangers of fracking, followed by investments in solar energy, pollution reduction, strengthening the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, Investment in Public Transit, the state's environmental agencies, and environmental protection fund, reduction of disposable bag use, brownfield cleanup, and requiring toxic cleaning product ingredient disclosure. Audubon NY Spokesman Sean Mahar notes that not all the groups endorse the entire top ten. In their case their focus is the Environmental Protection Fund. NY League of Conservation Voters Spokesman Dan Hendrick says solar energy and environmental funding are their top priorities on the list. Adirondack Mountain Club Executive Director Neil Woodworth called the list a roadmap to the most important objectives in protecting the environment and growing the state's economy.
