Albany, NY – Well Penn State has found a new head coach for its football program...
According to multiple media reports, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has agreed to succeed legendary Joe Paterno and fill the vacant Penn State head-coaching position. ESPN first reported last night that an official announcement would be made on Saturday. Paterno was fired two months ago in the aftermath of child sex abuse charges against retired defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
To the NBA, last night in Atlanta, the Heat were without superstars Lebron James and Dwayne Wade - but they still had Chris Bosh.
That triple from downtown sent the game into overtime, and the Heat and Hawks would need triple overtime, before Miami pulled away from Atlanta 116-109. Chris Bosh finished with 33 points - sound courtesy of TNT.
Elsewhere, Sacramento edged Milwaukee 103-100, Portland beat the Lakers 107-96, and San Antonio rolled over Dallas 93-71.
To Top 25 college hoops, Indiana upset Michigan 73-71, Gonzaga hammered Pepperdine 73-45, UNLV route Cal State Bakersfield 89-57, and San Diego State ran past San Diego Christian 83-52.
On the Women's side, Stanford hammered Oregon 93-70, Tennessee routed Georgia 80-51, and Kentucky got by Arkansas 84-72.
To the ice, last night in Boston, Nathan Horton and Patrice Bergeron each scored twice, as the Bruins blew out Calgary 9-nothing. Boston's won 9 of 10.
In New York, Marian Gaborik's overtime tally lifted the Rangers over Florida 3-2. New York's won 8 of 9, and now boast the best record in the NHL.
Elsewhere, San Jose skated past Columbus 2-1, Los Angeles blanked Phoenix 1-0, Philadelphia got by Chicago 5-4, Toronto shutout Winnipeg 4-0, Ottawa held off Tampa Bay 4-1, St. Louis dumped Edmonton 4-3, and Dallas dropped Nashville 4-1.
