With that 9-yard strike to Darren Sproles, Brees broke Dan Marino's 1984 mark of 5,084 passing yards, in the Saints 45-16 rout of the Falcons to clinch the NFC South. Sound courtesy of ESPN.
In other NFL news, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will miss the last game of the season after tearing both the ACL and MCL in his left knee on Saturday. Meanwhile, it appears Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who suffered a bruise on his throwing hand, will be under center Sunday when the Cowboys visit the Giants with the NFC East title at stake.
To the NBA, last night in Washington D.C., Kris Humphries poured in 21 points and grabbed 16 boards, as the Nets rallied to beat the Wizards 90-84.
Elsewhere, Denver blew out Dallas 115-93, Sacramento got by the Lakers 100-91, Oklahoma City downed Minnesota 104-100, San Antonio dumped Memphis 95-82, New Orleans edged Phoenix 85-84, Golden State downed Chicago 99-91, Portland held off Philadelphia 107-103, Orlando dropped Houston 104-95, Charlotte topped Milwaukee 96-95, Toronto got past Cleveland 104-96, and Indiana beat Detroit 91-79.
To the NHL, where the New York Rangers find themselves atop the Eastern Conference following their fifth straight win...
Carl Hagelin scored twice and Henrik Lundqvist made 28 shots as the Rangers blanked the Islanders 3-0. Marian Gaborik iced the win with an empty-netter, the fifth straight game he's scored a goal.
