Middletown, NY – Top elected officials in the city of Middletown, New York won't be getting raises any time soon. WAMC's Hank Gross reports

The common council was to vote early this month to consider pay raises, but hours before the meeting, Council President Miguel Rodrigues pulled the resolution.

"The councilmen, toward the end of the term, have a window of opportunity within 45 days that they can raise salaries and it was brought up," Rodrigues said. "We didn't have the right attendance and I decided to pull it. We're going to put it into committee."

Right now, the mayor's annual salary is $39,000, the council president's is $6,500 and council members each earn $5,000.
