Last night in Arlington - Rangers and Cardinals - Derek Holland tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out seven, as the Rangers blanked the Cardinals 4-0. Mike Napoli's three-run shot in the sixth broke the game open. Game 5 is tonight in Texas - and it'll be a rematch of Game 1 starters, as the Cardinals Chris Carpenter takes the hill against the Rangers C.J. Wilson.
In other baseball news, departing Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein took out a full-page ad in Sunday's Boston Globe, thanking Boston fans, the team's owners, players and others for the memories. Epstein became president of baseball operations for the Chicago Cubs on Friday.
To the NFL, where Plaxico Burress had a big, breakout game for the Jets. The veteran wide-out caught three touchdown passes, helping the Jets storm back in the second half to beat the Chargers 27-21.
Elsewhere, Green Bay remains unbeaten after downing Minnesota 33-27, New Orleans demolished winless Indianapolis 62-7, Pittsburgh held off Arizona 32-20, Houston crushed Tennessee 41-7, Dallas blew out St. Louis 34-7, Tim Tebow rallied Denver over Miami 18-15 in OT, Atlanta got by Detroit 23-16, Chicago dropped Tampa Bay 24-18 at London's Wembley Stadium, Cleveland squeaked by Seattle 6-3, Carolina downed Washington 30-20, and Kansas City shutout Oakland 28-0, spoiling Carson Palmer's return to football.
Only one game on the ice yesterday, Phoenix skated past Anaheim 5-4.
In golf, top-ranked Luke Donald ran off six straight birdies on the back nine en route to an 8-under-par 64, that propelled him to a two-stroke win over Justin Leonard at the season-ending tournament at Disney World Resort.
In Rugby, New Zealand won the Rugby World Cup final yesterday, beating France 8-7 to become the third country to win the title twice.
And in NASCAR, Clint Bowyer picked up a victory at Talladega Sunday afternoon. Bowyer zipped past teammate Jeff Burton in the final stretch to take the Good Sam Club 500.
