Plattsburgh, NY – This week, Georgetown University's Transportation Climate Initiative formally signed an agreement with transportation, energy and environment officials from ten northeast states and the District of Columbia to form the Regional Electric Vehicle Network. The network will coordinate plans for electric charging infrastructure locally and region-wide. Georgetown Climate Center Executive Director Vicki Arroyo.
Creation of the network is being supported by a $994,500 federal grant awarded to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, NYSERDA. Again Georgetown's Vicki Arroyo.
A number of state agencies will be involved in developing electric vehicle infrastructure in New York, including the Department of Environmental Conservation. DEC Commissioner Joe Martens says the goal is to eliminate barriers for consumers who want an electric vehicle option.
The Regional Electric Vehicle Network participants are Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and the District of Columbia.
