Plattsburgh, NY – SUNY Plattsburgh's Institute on Quebec Studies, a part of the college's Center for the Study of Canada, works to expand academic, corporate and government knowledge about the province. This week Fulbright Canada signed an agreement with the college to create a distinguished chair in Quebec Studies on the campus. This is the first such Fulbright position dedicated to Quebec studies at any university in the U.S. Fulbright Canada Chief Executive Officer Michael Hawes.
Quebec Government Office in New York Delegate General John Parisella says the Fulbright Chair is an opportunity to go beyond just campus studies.
SUNY Plattsburgh President Dr. John Ettling notes that they have an annual Fulbright senior scholar focused on the country of Canada, but this is the first to focus solely on Quebec.

The Fulbright Chair in Quebec Studies has yet to be chosen. The plans are for the first chair to be appointed and in residence for the 2012-13 academic year.
