DEC Commissioner Will Answer Questions On Fracking in Live Chat

By Ryan Delaney

Albany, NY – New York's point-man on the environment will answer questions this weekend on New Yorker's concerns about Hydraulic Fracturing.

Department of Environmental Conservation commissioner Joe Martens will be on the governor's new open government website Saturday morning for the virtual town hall.

The DEC is currently reviewing regulations and the environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing. Several environmental groups have raised concerns over fracking, but it could be a boon for jobs and tax revenue in the state.

Fracking requires pumping water, sand and chemicals deep underground to release stores of natural gas.

You can visit the Citizen Connects page beginning today to submit a question for Mr. Martens. He will answer them in a live chat Saturday morning during the 9 o'clock hour.
