Albany, NY – Well the Yankees and Tigers best-of-five series is even at one game apiece...
In MLB postseason action yesterday, Miguel Cabrera launched a two-run shot in the first, and Detroit held off a late New York rally to beat the Yankees 5-3. Speaking to ESPN after the game, Tigers Closer Jose Valverde guaranteed a series win, saying "the series will finish in our house" and that it's "not (coming) back to New York." The series does shift to Detroit for Game 3 tonight - C.C. Sabathia takes on Justin Verlander.
In the other ALDS match-up, the Rangers and Rays series shifts to St. Petersburg tonight for Game 3. That series is even at one.
Over to the NLDS, in Philadelphia, Albert Pujols singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh, as the Cardinals rallied to beat the Phillies 5-4, evening their series at one.
In Milwaukee, Ryan Braun slugged a two run homer, as the Brewers pounded out a 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Up two games to none, Milwaukee will go for the sweep tomorrow in Phoenix.
To the NFL... in Arizona, Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes in a 58-second span late in the game, to rally the Giants over the Cardinals 31-27. The G-Men have won three straight and are tied with Washington for first place in the NFC East.
In Baltimore, the Ravens turned three turnovers by Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez into touchdowns en route to a 34-17 win over Gang Green. The Jets are 2-2.
In Cincinnati, Mike Nugent's 43-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Bengals over the Bills 23-20. Buffalo slips to 3-1.
In Oakland, Tom Brady bounced back from last week's four-interception performance, by throwing for 226 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers, in the Patriots 31-19 win over the Raiders. New England is 3-1.
Green Bay, Detroit, San Diego, Atlanta, Washington, Chicago, Tennessee, San Francisco, Houston, New Orleans, and Kansas City round out the Week 4 winners.
