In Kansas City, Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed four touchdown passes, as Buffalo blew out the Chiefs 41-7.

In Washington D.C., Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns, as Washington dumped a lackluster New York Giants squad 28-14.

In other Week 1 action, it was Houston 34, Indianapolis 7; Baltimore 35, Pittsburgh 7; Arizona 28, Carolina 21; Chicago 30, Atlanta 12; Philadelphia 31, St. Louis 13; Detroit 27, Tampa Bay 20; San Diego 24, Minnesota 17; Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 17; Jacksonville 16, Tennessee 14, and San Francisco got by Seattle 33-17.

To baseball, in the American League, the Yankees beat the Angels 6-5, Tampa Bay stung the Red Sox 9-1, Detroit nipped Minnesota 2-1, Cleveland dropped the White Sox 7-3, Toronto edged Baltimore 6-5, Texas blasted Oakland 8-1, and Kansas City doubled up Seattle 2-1.

Over to the NL, the Cubs stopped the Mets 10-6, San Diego nipped Arizona 7-6, San Francisco downed the Dodgers 8-1, Milwaukee rallied past Philadelphia 3-2, St. Louis doubled up Atlanta 6-3, Florida beat Pittsburgh 4-1, Washington whipped Houston 8-2, and Colorado cruised past Cincinnati 4-1.

And in tennis, Sam Stosur shocked Serena Williams 6-2, 6-3 to win the Women's U.S. Open title. The Men's championship match, between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, will be played this afternoon.
