Plattsburgh, NY and Burlington, VT – The city of Plattsburgh is one of 30 communities displaying material from ground zero as part of the NY Remembers project. At 8:46 Sunday morning beside a twisted piece of the tower's exterior aluminum sheathing, city clerk Keith Herkalo spoke of historical parallels and read a remembrance poem as the mayor and others looked on.

On Sunday afternoon, people gathered beside Hawkins Pond on the campus of Plattsburgh State. Beside the pond is a memorial to two alumni who lost their lives when the Twin Towers collapsed. On September 11th 2001, now Student Association President P.J. Shah was a young student in Darjeeling, India.

In Burlington, people gathered in front of City Hall to participate in a National Moment of Remembrance. Mayor Bob Kiss explained and introduced the city's fire chief.
