Albany, NY – Well Tim Wakefield has been denied his 200th career win... again.

Last night in Toronto, the Blue Jays tagged the Boston bullpen with one run in the seventh and five more in the eighth, as they rallied to beat the Red Sox 11-10. Wakefield has been chasing his 200th win since July 24th - a span of seven appearances.

In the Bronx, Mark Reynolds ripped a tie-breaking, RBI single in the 11th, as the Orioles edged the Yankees 5-4. New York continues to lead the division by 2 1/2 games over Boston.

In other AL action, Detroit dumped Cleveland 8-6, Minnesota nipped the White Sox 5-4, the Angels got by Seattle 3-1, Oakland blanked Kansas City 7-0, and Tampa Bay topped Texas 5-4.

Over to the NL, in Florida, R.A. Dickey and two relievers combined on a five hitter, as the Mets shutout the Marlins 1-0.

Elsewhere, Philadelphia rallied past Atlanta 3-2, San Diego beat San Francisco 3-1, Arizona downed Colorado 5-3, St. Louis blanked Milwaukee 2-0, the Cubs doubled up Cincinnati 6-3, and Pittsburgh held off Houston 5-4.

In NFL news, the regular season kicks off tonight. The Saints will take on the Packers in Green Bay.

In other news, Peyton Manning's streak of 227 consecutive starts is over. The Colts quarterback has been ruled out of Sunday's season opener at Houston.

In hockey news, a private jet carrying a top Russian hockey team slammed into a riverbank moments after takeoff yesterday, killing at least 43 people. Two other people on board remain in critical condition. Among the dead were coach and NHL veteran Brad McCrimmon, former All-Star Pavol Demitra, Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup winner Alexander Karpovtsev, and Devils prospect Alexander Vasyunov, who played right here in Albany.

And in tennis, steady rain washed out all matches at the U.S. Open for a second straight day. Tournament organizers are hoping for better weather today.
