Albany, NY – Well a big weekend series sweep puts the Yankees in first...

In the Bronx, Derek Jeter homered and drove in five, as New York completed a three-game sweep of Toronto 9-3. C.C. Sabathia picked up his 19th win.

In Boston, Ian Kinsler went deep, driving in three, as the Rangers roughed up the Red Sox 11-4. Boston now trails the Yankees by a game and a half in the division.

Elsewhere in the AL, Detroit blasted the White Sox 18-2, the Angels edged Minnesota 4-1, Cleveland outlasted Kansas City 9-6, Tampa Bay bounced Baltimore 8-1, and Oakland dumped Seattle 8-5.

Over to the NL, in our nation's capital, ex-National Willie Harris' pinch-hit, two-run single highlighted a four-run sixth, as the Mets rallied past Washington 6-3.

Elsewhere, Arizona downed San Francisco 4-1, San Diego dropped Colorado 7-2, Florida edged Philadelphia 5-4 in 14, Atlanta got by the Dodgers 4-3, Milwaukee shutout Houston 4-zip, Cincinnati held off St. Louis 3-2, and the Cubs doubled up Pittsburgh 6-3.

In Top 25 college football action, 8th ranked Texas A&M routed SMU 46-14, and 24th ranked West Virginia beat in-state rival Marshall 34-13.

In tennis, at the U.S. Open, Andy Roddick is back in the fourth round for the first time since 2008, cruising past Julien Benneteau in straight sets. Donald Young, John Isner, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, and David Ferrer also advanced.

On the Women's side, Vera Zvonareva, Flavia Pennetta, and Angelique Kerber have advanced to the quarterfinals.

In NASCAR, heavy rains last night in the Atlanta area have postponed the Sprint Cup race. The race is now scheduled to run tomorrow, at 11 a.m

In horse racing, today, Labor Day, marks the final day of racing season at the Saratoga Race Course.

And sad news out of Tampa, Lee Roy Selmon, the Buccaneers' Hall of Fame defensive end and standout at Oklahoma, died yesterday - two days after being hospitalized for a stroke. He was 56.
