Keene, NY – Tuesday morning, Congressman Bill Owens was in Ausable Forks to see first hand the damage that occurred when the Ausable River overflowed it's banks and raged thru the hamlet.
Debris still clogs bridge abutments, mud coats roads, sidewalks, and homes. Road shoulders have collapsed and gaping jagged holes dot the landscape. In the afternoon, Governor Andrew Cuomo toured damage in Keene, walking thru the flood ravaged community and talking to residents cleaning what's left of their homes.
Standing in front of the partially destroyed fire station, Governor Cuomo promised help.
Many roads and bridges in the Adirondacks are damaged and travel may be limited to one lane or detoured.
