Plattsburgh, NY – The conference brought together municipal and school officials from across NY's northern tier and the Adirondacks. The conference theme is "Living Within the Property Tax Cap: Innovative Strategies to Adapt to the New Fiscal Reality". And most attendees wanted more information on that recently passed law. Supervisor of the Town of Webb Robert Moore says while many of the plenary sessions were interesting, he attended to hear details on the tax cap. Town of Massena Supervisor Joseph Gray says the information on the tax cap, while enlightening, is very disappointing. Town of Moriah Supervisor Tom Scozzafava hoped to find some clarification in the law. Comptroller DiNapoli delivered the keynote for the Leadership Institute. Afterwards, Dinapoli acknowledged confusion over the tax cap caused by lack of information. This is one of a series of Local Government Leadership Institutes sponsored by the Comptroller's office held thru-out the state.
