Albany, NY – Well Jacoby Ellsbury could get used to this... and so could the Red Sox.
For the second straight night, Ellsbury delivered the winning hit, belting a walk-off homer with two outs in the ninth, as Boston beat Cleveland 4-3. The Red Sox have won 10 of 13.
In Chicago, Derek Jeter had five hits, and Curtis Granderson knocked in five, as the Yankees pummeled the White Sox 18-7. The Yanks have won six straight, and nine of eleven.
Elsewhere in the AL, Seattle downed Oakland 7-4, Detroit topped Texas 5-4, Minnesota crushed the Angels 11-4, Kansas City dropped Baltimore 6-2, and Tampa Bay trounced Toronto 9-1.
Over to the NL, in Milwaukee, Casey McGehee homered three times as the Brewers doubled up the Cardinals 10-5.
Elsewhere, San Francisco cruised past Arizona 8-1, the Cubs blanked Pittsburgh 1-0, Atlanta edged Washington 6-4, Philadelphia nipped Colorado 8-6, Houston held off Cincinnati 5-4, San Diego shutout the Dodgers 3-0, and the Marlins-Mets matchup was washed out by Mother Nature.
In other baseball news, Major League Baseball plans to interview Alex Rodriguez, as it investigates allegations that the Yankees star took part in illegal celebrity poker games.
In NFL news, Eagles' defensive tackle Mike Patterson is alert, stable and joking at a hospital, after he suffered a seizure yesterday on the practice field.
The Giants say they're no longer interested in trading disgruntled defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who's unhappy with the remaining two years of his contract.
And former Rams quarterback Marc Bulger says he is retiring after 11 NFL seasons.
And in NHL news, the owner of the Islanders says he's "not giving up on Long Island" after voters overwhelmingly rejected a plan to borrow $400 million dollars for a new hockey arena. The Islanders' lease at the Nassau Coliseum expires in 2015.
