Albany, NY – Well a new record for Teixeira...

Last night in the Bronx, first baseman Mark Teixeira set a major league record by homering from both sides of the plate for the 12th time, as the Yankees blanked the White Sox 6-0. The game was called after the seventh because of rain.

At Fenway, Jarrod Saltalamacchia dove across home plate with the winning run on Jacoby Ellsbury's, ninth-inning single, as Boston beat the Cleveland 3-2.

Elsewhere in the AL, the Angels topped Minnesota 5-1, Detroit dropped Texas 6-5, Toronto got by Tampa Bay 3-1, Baltimore dumped Kansas City 8-2, and Seattle doubled up Oakland 4-2.

Over to the NL, in Queens, the Marlins rallied with two, ninth-inning runs on a throwing error by Justin Turner, as Florida nipped the Mets 4-3.

Elsewhere, Arizona downed San Francisco 6-1, St. Louis outlasted Milwaukee 8-7 in 11, the Cubs pounded Pittsburgh 11-6, Cincinnati held off Houston 5-1, Philadelphia blanked Colorado 5-0, Washington whipped Atlanta 9-3, and the Dodgers shutout San Diego 1-0.

In NFL news, linebacker David Harris has signed a new,four-year deal with the Jets, Indianapolis has inked linebacker Ernie Sims, Baltimore has added center Casey Rabach, Seattle has signed tight end Zach Miller, and Texans wide out Andre Johnson will miss a couple practices after dislocating his left index finger.

In NBA news, with locked-out NBA players threatening to file an antitrust lawsuit, the league has beat them to court. The NBA has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board and a lawsuit in federal district court in New York. The league accuses the NBA Players Association of being uncooperative in negotiations.

And in NHL news, the Islanders have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Blake Comeau, following a career high in goals, assists, and points last season. And Canucks center Ryan Kesler has had hip surgery, and is expected to make a full recovery in 10-12 weeks.
