Albany, NY – Well Randy Moss is retiring...

The 34-year-old wide receiver is calling it a career after 13 NFL seasons, with Minnesota, Oakland, New England and Tennessee. Moss finishes tied for second on the all-time list in touchdown receptions, fifth in receiving yards, and tied for eighth in receptions.

In other NFL news, linebacker Jason Taylor has rejoined Miami, running back Ahmad Bradshaw has re-signed with the Giants, and offensive lineman Matt Light has reached a contract agreement with New England.

To baseball... Last night in Boston, Asdrubal Cabrera homered twice, driving in four, as the Indians outlasted the Red Sox 9-6.

In Chicago, C.C. Sabathia worked eight innings, allowing two runs on 10 hits, as the Yankees dumped the White Sox 3-2. New York pulls within one game of Boston in the AL East.

In the only other AL contest, Seattle doubled up Oakland 8-4.

Over to the NL, in Queens, Mike Stanton belted a tenth inning grand slam, powering Florida over the Mets 7-3.

Elsewhere, Milwaukee downed St. Louis 6-2, Arizona got by San Francisco 5-2, the Cubs held off Pittsburgh 5-3, Philadelphia edged Colorado 4-3, Washington dropped Atlanta 5-3, Houston nipped Cincinnati 4-3, and the Dodgers trimmed San Diego 6-2.

In NBA news, commissioner David Stern returned to the bargaining table yesterday, and said "nothing" gave him reason for encouragement. The first meeting to include leadership from owners and players since the lockout began exactly a month ago produced nothing. The two sides say they'll try to meet a few more times this month, with the season scheduled to begin on November 1st.

And in NHL news, Chris Chelios, Keith Tkachuk, and Gary Suter have been selected for induction into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
