The paper says prosecutors are worried about the credibility of the woman Strauss-Kahn is accused of sexually assaulting in a Manhattan hotel in May.
At the outset, prosecutors believed they had an almost air-tight case against the French politician. But the accuser, a housekeeper at the hotel, has repeatedly lied since then. It's possible Strauss-Kahn could be granted bail and have the more serious charges against him dropped when he appears in court today.
Prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney's office are expected to tell a judge that they have problems with their case.
Strauss-Kahn had been considered a top candidate for the French presidency before his arrest. His attorneys have argued that any sexual contact with the woman was consensual.
