Albany, NY – A shocker at Wimbledon...

Yesterday, after winning the first two sets, six-time champ Roger Federer was bounced from the tournament by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 3-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Defending champ Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray also advanced to the semis.

Women's semifinal action gets underway at 8 this morning.

In NFL news, Commissioner Roger Goodell and players' boss DeMaurice Smith will resume talks today aimed at ending the NFL's four-month-old lockout.

Well don't tell the Mets the football season is on ice. After scoring two touchdowns the night before, New York's offensive onslaught continued...

On the diamond in Detroit, Daniel Murphy and Angel Pagan each drove in four runs, as the Mets rapped out 20 hits, finding paydirt twice and tacking on a two-point conversion, in their 16-9 blitz of the Tigers. New York's scored 30 runs over the last two games, and their 52 runs in their last four is a club record.

In the Bronx, Jorge Posada launched a solo shot, Russell Martin added a three-run bomb, as the Yankees dumped Milwaukee 5-2. The Yanks have won 14 of 18.

In Philadelphia, Raul Ibanez's tie-breaking homer snapped a 1-1 tie, lifting the Phillies over the Red Sox 2-1. Boston's lost 6 of 7.

Elsewhere, Florida blanked Oakland 3-0, the Cubs edged San Francisco 2-1, St. Louis cruised past Baltimore 5-1, the Angels shutout Washington 1-0, the White Sox nipped Colorado 3-2, Cleveland downed Arizona 6-2, Texas topped Houston 3-2, Cincinnati got by Tampa Bay 4-3, Minnesota blanked the Dodgers 1-0, San Diego held off Kansas City 4-1, Atlanta dumped Seattle 5-3, and Toronto beat Pittsburgh 2-1.

And in NBA news, negotiators for the owners and players are facing a deadline today for the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement, with the threat of a lockout looming. The two sides remain far apart on most major issues.
