Drug Company Buys Back Facility

Rouses Point, NY – Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has decided to buy back a manufacturing facility in Rouses Point NY that it sold to another drug company in 2008. Akrimax has been unable to find enough markets and says the Rouses Point plant is no longer part of their long term plans. Pfizer, which has leased manufacturing space in the plant, will buy back the facility. Pfizer Inc. Spokesman Chris Loder.......

Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Garry Douglas says finding a buyer for the one-million square foot plant will be challenging.......

The reacquisition of the plant by Pfizer means 60 of 400 employees will lose their jobs. It's the largest employer in the village of Rouses Point, and Mayor George Rivers says the news could have been worse.....

Pfizer's Chris Loder said the 60 workers losing their jobs supported new business development for Akrimax and Pfizer will assist them during the transition.
