Albany, NY – Crain's New York Business and Capital Confidential have both reported that NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has asked Jim Sheehan to resign within 30 days. The first to hold the position, Sheehan has recovered nearly a billion dollars from fraud. Critics say his methods have been heavy handed. They include Health Care Attorney Bob Abrams who has testified at hearings in Albany.....

Sheehan has also been praised for his efforts. Immediate Past Deputy Commissioner of Tax Enforcement for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Bill Comiskey..........

Jim Sheehan has worked with his counterpart in New Jersey - Office of the State Comptroller Medicaid Fraud Division Director Mark Anderson....

New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging Senior Vice President for Public Policy Dan Heim says they are more concerned with assuring that legislation reforming the operations of the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General moves forward rather than with the personalities involved......

An anonymous source told WAMC that the Governor's office will make the formal announcement officially terminating Jim Sheehan as the state's Medicaid Inspector General after the Legislature adjourns.
