Albany, NY – Well the Bruins are hoping lightning doesn't strike twice...

On the ice last night in Tampa, Teddy Purcell and Martin St. Louis each scored two goals, as the Lightning outskated the Bruins 5-4 in Game 6. The winner of Game 7, which is tomorrow, will face Vancouver in the Stanley Cup finals.

To the NBA playoffs... where the Mavericks are heading to the NBA finals for the first time since 2006. Last night in Dallas, the Mavs closed Game 5 of the Western Conference final on a 14-4 run to eliminate the Thunder 100-96. Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion each had 26 points for Dallas, who awaits the winner of the Eastern Conference final between Miami and Chicago.

In other NBA news, the Lakers have hired former Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown to replace 11-time NBA champ Phil Jackson, who retired at season's end.

To baseball... In Chicago, Daniel Murphy and Carlos Beltran each hit two-run doubles, as the Mets dumped the Cubs 7-4 in a rain-shortened affair.

In other NL action... Philadelphia outlasted Cincinnati 5-4 in 19, Florida edged San Francisco 7-6 in 12, San Diego topped St. Louis 3-1, Milwaukee got by Washington 6-4, Arizona nipped Colorado 2-1, Atlanta doubled up Pittsburgh 4-2, and Houston held off the Dodgers 2-1.

Over to the AL... In Cleveland, Carl Crawford had four of Boston's 20-hits, including a homer, as the Red Sox bombed the Indians 14-2.

In the Bronx, Andruw Jones launched a pair of two-run homers, to lead the Yankees over Toronto 7-3.

Elsewhere, Texas topped the White Sox 2-1, the Angels dropped Oakland 4-1, Seattle blanked Minnesota 3-0, Baltimore rocked Kansas City 9-2, and the Rays-Tigers game was postponed due to rain.

In tennis, the second round at the French Open is underway... Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Caroline Wozniacki, and Sam Stosur have all advanced.

And the winningest pitcher in Kansas City Royals history and a popular broadcaster for the team, Paul Splittorff, has died after a battle with oral cancer and melanoma. He was 64.
