Albany, NY – Well the Celtics are on the brink of elimination...
On the hardcourt in Beantown last night, Lebron James scored 35 points, as the Heat burned Boston 98-90 in overtime. Miami leads the Eastern Conference semifinal 3-1.
And four quarters wasn't enough to decide the other NBA playoff game last night... Russell Westbrook poured in a career-playoff high 40 points, as Oklahoma City outlasted Memphis in triple overtime 133-123. This Western Conference semifinal is even at two.
To the ice... in Nashville, Roberto Luongo made 23 saves to help the Canucks eliminate the Predators 2-1. Vancouver advances to the Western Conference finals, and await the winner of the Sharks-Red Wings series.
To baseball... in Colorado, Chris Iannetta's seventh inning homer snapped a 1-1 tie, as the Rockies dumped the Mets 2-1. New York's lost two straight, and sit in the basement of the NL East at 15-20.
Elsewhere, Philadelphia got by Florida 6-4, Pittsburgh beat the Dodgers 4-1, Milwaukee edged San Diego 4-3, and Cincinnati handled Houston 6-1.
Over to the AL... in Boston, pinch runner Jose Iglesias scored from first on Carl Crawford's double in the 11th, as the Red Sox nipped the Twins 2-1. Boston's won 11 of 12 at home.
Elsewhere, Detroit doubled up Toronto 10-5, Oakland dumped Texas 7-2, and the White Sox blanked the Angels 8-0.
In college basketball news... Maryland has named Mark Turgeon as its new head coach, replacing Gary Williams, who's retiring after 22 seasons and one national title with the Terps.
And in cycling, Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt died after a high-speed downhill crash at the Giro d'Italia in Northern Italy. The 26-year-old is the first rider killed in a crash in one of cycling's three main tours in 16 years.
