Binghamton, NY – The National Weather Service says a tornado with wind speeds up to 135 miles per hour touched down in upstate New York. WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...
A meteorologist with the agency says its investigators have confirmed that a tornado struck the Chemung County town of Erin early Thursday morning.
Meteorologist Mike Nadolski says it was a category EF2 tornado, with wind speeds between 111 and 135 mph.
He says the agency is also investigating whether a tornado touched down in adjacent Tompkins County. The Chemung and Tompkins counties are in the southwestern part of the state, along the Pennsylvania border.
