Malta, NY – The Luther Forest Technology Campus represents a very bright spot in the Capital Region / Saratoga Area economy... Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas takes a look at the progress being made in developing the what some hail as "the Next Silicon Valley."
Construction is moving along as planned, expected to be finished in September 2011 with equipment installation to follow.
Mike Relyea, president of the group that runs the campus, explains that New York state is trying to create a cluster of high-tech companies that reinforce each other, Silicon Valley-style.
60 percent of the land at Luther Forest will be left as "green space" : The Malta Planning Board recently granted GlobalFoundries an extra 400,000 square feet to expand upon the developing 750,000 square foot chip production complex in Malta. Relyea expects Global Foundries to soon begin identifying and solidifying their Capital Suppliers.
