NYCLU Against "Familial Searching" DNA

Albany, NY – When a DNA sample in the state databank matches DNA collected at a crime scene, the person from whom that sample was taken becomes a suspect. But what if the crime-scene DNA is not a "clear match" but a "near match" with a DNA sample in the databank? The New York Civil Liberties Union held a news conference in Albany today to discuss a state proposal that would authorize collecting DNA from the family members of anyone whose DNA is a "partial match" with crime scene evidence...
