Child abuse garners harsher punishment

Albany, NY – New York State will enact harsher punishments for those convicted of reckless assault of a child. Governor George Pataki signed a new law Sunday raising the penalty to between two and seven years in prison. Child abuse cases throughout the Northeast and the nation have lawmakers and community organizations taking action. WAMC's Capital District Bureau Chief Jessica Bloustein has more.
