Judge's Ruling Opens Potential For Gray Wolf Reintroduction to Northeast

Montpelier, VT – In 2003, the National Wildlife Federation and four other groups filed suit in federal district court in Vermont arguing that the federal government used a Wolf Reclassification Rule to terminate efforts to reintroduce the gray wolf to the Northeast. A federal judge on Friday ruled that the Bush Administration attempts to curb efforts to restore the gray wolf to the Northeast violates the Endangered Species Act.
