The village of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts in Franklin County has become a popular location for filming movies and TV shows.

Three major productions have used the village’s picturesque downtown as a film location. Most recently, scenes for the “Dexter” TV series were filmed there for two weeks in April.

Permit fees from the film company will be used for village improvement projects. Town officials are soliciting suggestions from residents.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Shelburne select board chair Andrew Baker.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
