Hockey COVID Outbreak Spreads

Vermont's health commissioner says a coronavirus outbreak connected to recreational hockey and broomball at an indoor ice rink in Montpelier has grown to 43 cases, including cases at seven schools, seven workplaces, two colleges and two hospitals.
The people who played at the ice rink live in multiple Vermont counties.  In addition the state reported 28 new coronavirus cases Friday, the second-highest number since early June.

Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine said half the new cases are associated with three outbreaks. “The central Vermont hockey outbreak, the social event in Lamoille County and a new one at St. Michael’s College which was discovered through ongoing surveillance testing.”

St. Michael’s College in Colchester switched to all remote classes after six cases were detected.
