The Burlington, Vermont High School will be closed for in-person classes for the remainder of this semester.  But it’s not due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Burlington School District began a hybrid schedule of classes on September 8th. At the same time air quality tests related to the district’s $73 million renovation and rebuilding plan for the high school were conducted.

Preliminary results last week found levels of PCBs higher than recommended by the EPA. In-person classes were initially cancelled until September 18th.  Wednesday night Superintendent Tom Flanagan announced the High School and Technical Center campus will remain closed for the rest of the semester.

Remote classes will continue.
