Vermont To Allow Visits To Senior And Residential Care Facilities

One of the first moves Vermont officials took when COVID-19 hit the state was to close senior and residential care facilities to outside visitors.  During his Wednesday briefing Governor Phil Scott announced that visitors will be allowed back with restrictions.
Governor Scott says one of the biggest challenges with COVID-19 is the danger it presents to people over the age of 65 with chronic conditions.  While closing long term care and senior care homes was critical to limiting the spread it also proved difficult for families and the health of residents.  Scott says his team has been working for ways to ease restrictions.  “Beginning Monday we will allow outdoor visitation with two guests.  Now I realize this step is small but it’s meaningful.”

Scott said if the first phase goes well more restrictions on visitation will be lifted in the coming weeks.
