Berkshire County’s largest community says it won’t hold a 4th of July parade this year.
Peter Marchetti is president of the board of directors for the Pittsfield Parade Committee. He says the parade has to be scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are focusing right now on making sure that we can do something, and that is – through the efforts of PCTV – we’ve being able to make sure that past parades and a retrospective show will be aired on the morning of the 4th and we can go find the highlights of prior years," Marchetti told WAMC News. "And at the same time, begin planning for 2021.”
Parade organizers trace the city tradition back to 1824.
